The English Professor website was conceived and designed to help anyone wishing to learn English as a second language. It provides original and amusing activities for beginners. It also offers several links to interesting and helpful sites and activities already existing on the web for intermediate learners.

My name is Patrick Kinch. I am a pedagogical consultant and part-time webmaster. I work for the Des Draveurs School Board in Gatineau. I completed a Bachelor of Education degree in English at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1978. I also successfully completed a Master's Degree in Education in French( my second language ) at the Laval University in Quebec, Canada in 1985. I completed a course in computer programming with the Western Quebec School Board in Alymer, Quebec in 1997.

I have enjoyed teaching second language courses for many years. I would like to share my pedagogical expertise with as many people as possible. I hope this site will be of particular benefit to my past and present students.

The Internet is an exciting new medium. I believe it offers an unprecedented opportunity to advance language learning throughout the world. In my opinion, people who speak more than one language tend to be more tolerant and appreciative of the differences between cultural groups.

The Internet allows isolated learners to maintain regular contact with their target language and to practice and improve their communication skills. As the saying goes,"Practice makes perfect." The more we use our second language the more proficient we become. Furthermore, the Internet evolves constantly. It insures that we profit from all the latest technological and pedagogical innovations.
